This is not to be all finished for tomorrow, but for their test on Tuesday. Wednesday, October 10: We started with our Welcome Work. We then reviewed our homework from last night. Students had an exit card today on The Pythagorean Theorem and word problems. Homework: start reviewing for their unit test next Tuesday (Oct. 16). Tuesday, October 9: We started our new topic for welcome work (estimating square roots). We then completed pg 26 of our booklet (section 1.7 - applying the Pythagorean Theorem). We went over word problems that include the Pythagorean theorem. Homework: (textbook) pg 49 #4bc, 5c, 6, 8, 10, 11. We have a unit 1 test on Tuesday, October 16th. Friday, October 5: P.D. day (no school) Thursday, October 4: We finished up our welcome work on subtracting for this week. We took up our homework from yesterday (pg 20 in the textbook). We then completed pg 26 in the booklet - section 1.6 exploring the Pythagorean theorem. Homework: (textbook) pg 43 # 3, 4, 7abc. We also have a unit 1 test on Oct. 16 they should be reviewing. Wednesday, October 3: We started with our welcome work. We took up homework from yesterday (the worksheet I passed out). We then continued on pg 23-24 of our booklets. Homework: (textbook) pg 20 # 7. We learned about finding the side length of triangles using the Pythagorean Theorem. Homework: students were given a worksheet with questions on it. Monday, October 1: We started a new week of Welcome Work - we will be reviewing subtracting this week in preparation for Pythagorean Theorem. We continued with pg 21-22 in our booklets- learning about the Pythagorean Theorem. Homework: (textbook) pg 34 # 3, 4, 5, 8. Students were also given back their quizzes. Friday, September 28: We did our welcome work and handed in the booklets. We continued in our booklets in our new section. We did an investigation on the Pythagorean Theorem (pg 19 in booklet) as a class. We also completed page 20 in the booklet. Thursday, September 27: We had a double period for math today. First period: We did our welcome work. We did a class review for their quiz. We went over similar questions as those on the quiz. Second period: Quiz (1.1, 1.2, 1.4). Wednesday, September 26: We did our welcome work questions. We completed the page 18 in our booklets - which is the last section before our quiz on Thursday. Homework: review factorization trees, review in textbook: pg 30 # 1, 3, 6, 7, 9, 10, 11. Tuesday, September 25: We did our welcome work questions. We reviewed what non-perfect squares were and how to estimate them. We then continued to work on pg 16-17 of our booklets. Homework (textbook): pg 20 # 3, 4 5, 6. Monday, September 24: We started a new section of Welcome Work for this week (halving numbers). Students got their exit cards back. We corrected them and discussed common mistakes. Students were given an extra worksheet to help on tree factorization. We continued to work in our booklets (pg 15) - learning about estimating non-perfect squares. Friday, September 21: Students did not have class today as they had a field trip to Winterton. Thursday, September 20: We did our welcome work questions (on multiplying two digits by two digits). We did a review of finding square numbers using prime factorization and factor trees. Students then had an exit card on these concepts.
